Cost of Living
The cost of living is substantially lower than the UK. Just about every
commodity is cheaper, taking this into account it’s a fact you can
live to a higher standard for a lot less.
Food is a prime example, most towns have weekly markets the
stalls are packed with fresh fruit and vegetables mainly local grown produce.
Tapas bars, restaurants and cafes are reasonable, eating out is very affordable,
for the Spanish its a way of life eating outside socialising with friends
and family, young and old all together
Another good example is the town hall tax, equivalent to our council tax its only paid once a year and for a typical home cost less than £150.00
Running a car is considerably less with fuel costs around 65p per litre, annual car tax, depending on engine size approximately £50.00
House insurance to include buildings and contents is approximately half the cost
In the majority of towns parking the car is free.
Alcohol - Spanish wine and beer is so cheap a bottle of wine in the supermarket 50p and a bottle of beer 25p
Bottle of gin/whisky £3.00
Water and electricity bills are every 2 months with annual costs under half
Bottled water 8 litres 55p
Doctors prescriptions and chemist drugs under half
This list is endless, in all you need far less money to live or holiday in Spain
